Summer Learning Journey: Week 1 Day 1 Activity 1

This week we started on our first activity for week 1. For this activity we had to list 10 foods that we would choose to take on a ocean voyage. I picked food that wouldn't need to be refrigerated, this was quite hard as most of these foods are not really tasty to people.

  1. Hi Joseph

I enjoyed reading your blog post about what foods you would bring on the voyage. I liked how you created your DLO my favorite one was the Berries and how you said they are tasty and healthy. I think next time you could write more in your blurb. Great job

  2. Kia ora Joseph,

It is lovely meeting you! I am so excited that you are joining us for the Summer Learning Journey 2019-2020. Have you done this programme before?

This is my first year joining the Summer Learning Journey, and I am so excited that I get to read over the Manaiakalani blogs.

I’m really looking forward to summer, aren't you? In my spare time I like spending time at the beach and hanging out with my friends. I also enjoy going for walks and I absolutely love cooking and baking. What are you looking forward to doing this summer?

Your list looks great! You have organised your items so clearly and given such awesome explanations for why you would choose each item. I really enjoyed reading this! :)

Had you thought about adding images of each of the items? I'd love to see what you come up with!

I think out of all the food on the list you mentioned I would definitely take fruit. There are so many different types of fruit you could take as well so you wouldn't get sick of it.

If you had to take only one type of food from your top 10 with you on a voyage, what would you choose?

  3. Good Morning Joseph,
It is lovely to get to read your blog and meeting you. Thank you for joining us in the completion of the Summer Learning Journey of 2019-2020.

I am Samuel, a Year 7 student attending Sacred Heart College. I am part of a trial period in which they are trying out students to be bloggers, which means it is my first experience with this sort of position. However, my mother is a teacher at St. Pius X Catholic School, which also takes part in this programme, and I have completed the Summer Learning Journey as a part of her school, though attending Mt. Carmel Primary.

Introductions out of the way, let us move on to your brilliant blog. I loved the Ideas that you have come up with not just because of the reason that you had stated but also from a scientific point of view, the foods you have chosen have all the natural nutrients and vitamins needed from potassium to natural fats and carbohydrates, the only thing missing is protein but that is easily accessible as fish can be fished from the sea.

I would have to repeat what Erica stated, would you consider adding images to further accentuate your very well thought out blog? Apart from that, a very good blog. Well done, Joseph.

    Kind Regards,
    Samuel
