A Journey with a Shoe Life

My mouth was wide open, only to be filled by a huge stinky socks. I liked my hair messy, until tied my owner tied it tight. I didn’t really like him because he kept getting gum, dirt and lots of things on my bottom. Everytime he kicked a ball, it would hurt my face especially my nose. When I got exhausted, he just kept getting stinkier. My owner was annoying, he was so fast he always got my hair untangled. Getting back home was a relief, I could just sit down and sleep. As my owner grabs me, he throws me to the garbage, as I was falling I saw another pair of flash shoe.

This week for Writing, we were giving Objects inhumane quality (Personification). As for the object, we chose a shoe. Te Pounamu and I were paired up. This was also a challenge because we had to face back to back, no communication was allowed either.

Rugby Advertisement

This week for writing, we were making Advertisement for Rugby. We had 2 choices, to either make a video or make a poster. We first planned to make a video, but as time sped up we chose to make a poster. We also chose to use a Rugby Ball as our advertisement. We tried to use some qualities that advertisement had so that it is really relatable.

Explanation: Should NZ ban plastic straws?

                                          Should NZ ban plastic

Plastic Straws are actually simple to fair, they're small, quite useful for drinking as well. But sometimes usefulness and simplicity can cause something so dangerous. Hi my name is Joseph and by now you should know the boundaries of what plastic straws can cause. Plastic straws are a bigger deal than you think. Some turtles live they're live with a plastic straw in their nostrils, but for what reason. Well you see it is caused from us people, people that are capable of thinking of their own actions.

“Eww Yuck” is a common reaction I’d see if there was a photo of a plastic straw shoved into a turtle's nose. Well I find that sad, to see a plastic straw stuck in a turtle's nose is like hearing it scream help. Some people say that banning straws won’t make a difference, they might be true... in your own opinion. But making a small difference in the present could make a big difference in the future. Tell me what you achieve from throwing plastic straws? Do you become luxurious and full with gold?

Apparently some California restaurants have banned plastic straws. For the past 10 years New Zealand have been collecting plastic straws throughout the beaches. It is said that there are 65,000 plastic straws. Imagine in 30 years we kept on littering plastic straws, there would be approximately 195,000 plastic straw which is a lot of straws for a small countrie.

Persuasive Speeches

LI: To write a speech that persuades others to think the way you do.

Last week Panmure Bridge School had a Speech Competition. Only three people from LS2 were allowed to enter the competition. The three people chosen from LS2 had to have good eye contact, loud voice that is clear and good writing enough to hook in the audience. The people who didn't have enough confident would say their speech to a small group of people.

Hello my name is Joseph, I've been wondering how life would be if I went 50 years into the future, would the environment be healthy or would it be flooded with chaos? I think that the future reflects on us, whether we treat it with respect or we destroy it by acting selfishly. How do you think our world will end up, as we are currently treating it?

Paragraph 2 - About 1 million marine animals are dying from plastic each year because of our careless decisions. Just imagine if in the future the sea was empty with nothing but the reflection of the sun. Would you be proud? By acting in our own ways we have been selfish, careless, and ungrateful. We have been selfish by littering, we have been careless for not recognizing the situation we have caused and we have been ungrateful for not realizing the gift of environment we have been given. This proves that no human is perfect in this world.

Plastic… it may be a simple material but it can cause many disasters. Burning plastic creates polluted air as your releasing poison chemicals. Inhaling polluted air can cause damage to health whether its human or animal. Even if you throw plastic into the ocean, it’ll kill tons of turtles, Just imagine dreaming about poor sea animals dying right before our eyes as we continue to litter plastic, especially turtles they suffocate to death when consuming plastic bags or can cause physical distress, let's not blame the plastic, let's blame ourselves.

Learning about what plastic can cause has taught me a lot of things. Just because plastic could be something small in the present doesn’t mean it could be big in the future. The future is in our hands, so why not make a better tomorrow for the next generations.

I mean most of the people don’t even care if they litter, little do they know what the future lies ahead for their children and grandchildren. STOP LITTERING!!

Introducing Penguins

This week we gathered information about penguin, then we used that information for our planning. The reason why we planned, is because we were trying a challenge, which was, we could only use information gathered from our planning to make a infographic. The three main three property we used were Appearance, Diet and Habitat.

Introducing Penguins

Is it just me or are we both clueless for not realizing that a weird walking animal named penguin is a type of bird. Penguins are different to ordinary birds as they can not fly or glide, they don’t even have Wings and are completely flightless. Penguins are aquatic creatures and have flippers to swim they're way through the water which is often called (rocket). They’re often hunted by sea lions, some may have had brutal deaths. The scientific name for penguins are recognised as Spheniscidae.

Penguins are bigger and taller than normal birds, nearly all type of penguins have an black back and white in the front as feathers.

As all birds have, a penguin has a yellow beak. Some penguins even have patterns, like the humboldt penguin. They even have flippers.

The emperor penguin is considered the tallest and heaviest among all penguins. The smallest penguin is called the little penguin.

Penguin life is truly sad being the favourite food of an Leopard sea Lion. (Sea Lion)

Penguins mainly eat fish, but can also consume Squid, Krill and Crustacean as an diet.

Crustacean is a Type of Animal that lives in the water and is a type of aquatic. A common thing people do, is misunderstand Crustacean for an prawn.

“Never knew a type of bird lived in antarctica”  “me either”, “I’d expect any type of bird frozen to death by the time the clock has past 30 minutes”
Antarctica is a freezing place (ice biome) it contains lots of high ice structures and spices well known as penguins.

Antarctica is not the only habitat where penguins take on, there are many countries where penguins live in, but they are usually different types.

Have you ever seen a Plastic Bags cause a Huge Problem?
The problem with this environment is that Plastic Bags are littered by people, this huge problem of plastic bags has caused the death of sea creatures. This is really unfortunate to Sea Turtles as some have suffered with unequal turtle shells due to the Plastic Bag attached to they're neck and shell.

This could extinct different types of turtles. Plastic Bags have also has caused over 1 million sea animals to die including sea Turtles. The other problem about Plastic Bags is that it absorbs the oxygen of food source.

This is why shops are banning Plastic Bags which is a really good idea to avoid sea creatures suffering. You can stop this problem by using a used Plastic Bag, although even if you avoid this problem, plastic bags take 400 years to break down. Imagine the plastic bags still in the ocean and waiting for a turtle to comeby.

Using Colons In a Sentence

This week my writing group have been learning about colons. Colons are usually used for main ideas or lists. As you can see I have illustrated a beach. The first thing I did was, to open the example colons document. After I had to used colons and put them in the correct place. Once completed, I had to choose a sentence from that document, that had colons, then I illustrated it. I placed my colons at the word vacations, because the sentence, (Both were on the beach) was another idea.

Analogue Time

This week I have been learning about analog time, as you can see I have created a google document, this document talks about how to use a analogue time and the specific words used to tell an analogue time. I have learnt many things about analog time which is really amazing because i didn't understand that much.

Analogue Time
Is it worth learning about analogue time? Sometimes it can save somebody's life, and avoid you from getting fired from your boss.

There are two ways to tell time, analogue time and digital time, but as for today, we will talk about analogue time. Analogue time has 12 sections of numbers, the maximum hour of a day is 24 hours. The 24 hours are divided into two periods of time named am and pm. Am tells that its morning which has one of the sections of 12, and pm tells it is night which has the other pair of 12.

For an example 6 am is early in the morning, 6 pm is early evening. These 2 types are opposite from each other. There are also hands in a Analogue clock, there are 2 hands, the big hand and the small hand, the big hand tells minutes and the small hand tells hours. There is also an second hand that tells the second. The easy thing about time is that each of the 12 sections from a analog clock are divided into 5s, which means if the big hand goes around the whole clock, that is exactly an hour past. An whole hour is 60 minutes in total.

Now I that I have taught you about the basics of an analogue time, let's talk about specific words used to say these time, here are the types of talking languages that people use, quarter past, half past and past. “It is half past 4”. Which means it is 4:30. If you say it, “it is quarter past 7, it is 7:15, because 15 is one of the quarters to make 60 which is an whole hour. There is also past, past is like saying it is 8:05 but you are saying this, “it is 5 past 8”.

Now I hope you have learnt how to tell analog time it is not too difficult to tell analog time although it is not too simple to learn it, analog time can make miracles happen, it can save you from being late on a special occasion and avoid you from many problems.

Character Description

As I see a tunnel in a forest I begin to think harder and harder. Why is there a weird looking tunnel in the middle of the forest? Although there is a tunnel, the tunnel doesn’t really look a tunnel due to the fact that the tunnel is made out of wood, twigs and vines that are not fully connected to each other. I found the tunnel scary. As I looked at the tunnel I found out that the wood and vines from the tunnel were actually wet and old. I wondered if there could be something close by. I heard a girl voice coming closer. “Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy”

Remembering our Summer

I heard the ocean splashing on the sand like an earthquake, although the ocean splashed like an earthquake it felt like nothing but weak splashes.

I heard the seagulls squeaking around the ocean .

I saw the beautiful sunlight glistenings down at me.

I felt so relaxed with how the sunlight was shiney.

I felt lazy in the heat of summer.

I wondered how the sun even exist in the world.

I wondered if the sun flame could ever die out.

This week on Wednesday everybody in Learning Space 2 had to complete an document which we had to type about what we did in the holidays, starting off with either I felt, I heard, I saw, and I wondered. We also had to choose what made sense in the first line.

Narrative

LI: To Learn How To Write A Narrative.
This week on Thursday, I have been working on my Writing for the Must Do Task List, As you can see I have wrote a narrative about What Three Things Would You Do If A Baby Could Make People Invisible. As I wrote this narrative, we had to type down four paragraphs.

What Three Things Would You Do If A Baby Could Make People Invisible

Centuries ago, there were 5 male priests named Voken, Deliodas, Youki ,Mallus and Henoroten, who Were Brothers. The 5 Priests could born a baby with magical powers with a drink of power that they blessed, There were 5 elements, Fire, Water, Earth, Air and one rare magical power which could turn people invisible. Until that day, The 5 priests coffin was hidden in a magical place with the drink included. As the sun went down, the moon came up, there was one guy and his child who discovered a powerful force that was in the countrie of egypt.

As he discovered a  powerful force, he unlocked the powerful force by saying, the one who worships the 5 priest should now be welcoming me. He got the key by bringing a book that has a lot of ancient words. As he went inside the powerful force, him and his child baby was teleported to a circle with five different signs. As he saw a drink he went closer to it, until he knew, the drink glowed, then the drink went flying into the baby's mouth, making the baby having one element of 5. As the baby drink the holy water, the baby glowed and got teleported to america, as the baby got teleported to america there were 3 strangers going closer to the baby.

After the baby sneezed at a stranger, the stranger was invisible, as the stranger went invisible, people were pushing him, so then he got freaked out and ran as fast as he could not seeing a car right in front of his eyes and sadly got crashed. As there was an accident, the second stranger came, then the baby did a fart leaving the guy with a smell of eggs, as he smelled the eggs, he turned invisible and got a gun out as people were walking into him.

As his invisible faded , the cops came and arrested him. Soon the drama kept on coming as the last guy came with a evil look on his eye. Then the baby burped making the guy invisible, as he went invisible, the guy bring out a knife trying to stab the baby. But as 25 five men came and protected the baby, the stranger ran and never came back.

Malala Yousafzai

This week on Thursday I have been working on my Writing for the Must Do Task List. As you can see I have some writing on the blog post. These writings are things that were said good from Malala Yousafzai.

It’s so energetic passionate and peace loving people.

We are speaking for the living of the earth.

She said how can you help these children to go to school. She is trying to convince people to let kids go school more often.

We have to fight against these mindsets.

She simply ask the right to learning should be given to every child I ask for nothing else.

There are many people who do not give this opportunity to children, either cause children don't deserve it

Writing Check

LI: To edit and check a piece of recount writing

This week on Thursday I have been working on my Writing for the Must Do Task List.
As you can see I have made recount about kiwi sport as told to by Mr O and the rest of the people in my class. After we sortied out our recount we had to check our work and see if we have R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 for Ideas, Structure Language, Organisation, Vocabulary, Punctuation and Spelling.  The score I got was 29.

The Kiwi Sport

Today LS1 Group B went to kiwisport, at kiwi sport we were having challenges and were having fun. At kiwi sport we were learning how to play badminton which was hard for quite some of us. As I walked in the hall the excitement of my feeling bursted. Although we had fun we also learnt some new moves with a racket while hitting a shuttle. The moves LS1 learnt was under leg, ForeHand, BackHand.

After the moves we learnt, we had challenge which had 2 rounds for 2 winners. The challenge was that you have to bounce your shuttle and try not to drop your shuttle. If you are the last person standing then you are the winner. Now the second round is the same but if a different person wins then both of the winner of each round have to face each other. The winner for the game was Julian the other winner who lost to Julian was Jonathan.

Soon enough the second challenge we played was called 10 and over. For this game you had to bounce your shuttle 10 times and  over in a row. If you drop your shuttle then you have to start back to 0 which is a tiring thing to do. There was no winner because this game was all about having fun and enjoying time that the kiwi sport teacher give us.

Soon after later we had another challenge which we had to juggle the shuttle, but this time you have to use your back hand only which was a struggle for some people in this class. Luckily for me I got help so that I don’t fail as much as the class did.

At Kiwi Sport the safety rules were that you can’t swing your racket around people or anywhere. If you dribble your shuttle and you are getting close to someone you have to stop. Another rule is you can’t use your racket as a guitar, sword or smacking on the ground. The last rule is that you can’t bounce your shuttle high or smack your shuttle hard.

After a lot of time ahead of us we had a rest for about 4 minutes and we had to remember those things that the kiwisport people taught us and answer their questions. As the kiwisport finished I learnt there is a forehand, backhand, under leg and a lot of other moves .

Persuasive Speech

This week on Thursday I have been working on my Writing for the Must Do Task List. Today I had to go on Learning Space One Site then Click on the link which goes to a site that you make a brain storm. I worked with my normal group Kyle Mew burn and we made up lots of ideas to persuade some ones point of view. One of my ideas were to command the teachers. We also had to go on Writing site and click on the document link and you have to fill up the spaces to change someones point of view, we also had to make 3 other document to change someone point of view.

Persuasive speech plan

My topic: Healthy Food
My argument: We should not eat Junk.
Audience: LS1

How will you greet your audience?
Greetings my Audience, My name is Joseph
How will you introduce your topic in a catchy way?
I think that students at school should always only be able to bring Healthy Food, and as you can see I think it will be known and this is why.
Write a rhetorical question to make the audience think about your
topic:

Audiences do you think your children will get healthy if they eat too much Junk or do you think your children get fitter if they eat healthy food.
What is your opinion? Write a statement that clearly states your point of view:

Today I have a special reasons to back me up, If you have healthy lunch then you can get smarter and fitter.
List some facts or statistics that support your opinion:
Healthy food is good for children. Healthy food is also the key to life. Healthy food can make you get fitter by not getting fatter by Junk food.
Do you have a solution to the problem?
If you have problems and can’t stop eating Junk food then try to eat healthy food so you can get used to eating healthy and then your be inspired by healthy food.
Say your opinion again and warn the audience what will happen if they don’t agree with your opinion.

If you don’t eat healthy food then you can get fatter and you can get unhealthy. If you eat too much Junk then you can end up with diabetes or heart diseases.

My topic: Cheaper things
My argument: We should bring the price down to cheap!
Audience: LS1

How will you greet your audience?
Malo e lelei, My name is Sefo in Tongan
How will you introduce your topic in a catchy way?
Today I am going to tell you why we should make things cheaper. So you should make things cheaper and you’ll see why.
Write a rhetorical question to make the audience think about your
topic:
Why would we make our store things expensive is it for money or do you want to make store things cheaper for the best of best.
What is your opinion? Write a statement that clearly states your point of view:
Did you know that it's not fair for other people to get expensive stuff.
List some facts or statistics that support your opinion:
Did you know that once everything is expensive in a store then no one will want to buy stuff from that store.
Do you have a solution to the problem?
If you want to make more money then try make things fair by cutting the expensive to cheap.
Say your opinion again and warn the audience what will happen if they don’t agree with your opinion.

Did you know that you should care about people because some people out there in the world are poor and all you do is make the shops expensive for them to buy stuff.

My topic: Trees
My argument: We should not bring trees down.
Audience: LS1

How will you greet your audience?
Hello my audience,
How will you introduce your topic in a catchy way?
I think we should not cut trees because it is nature and if you want to learn now what happens if you keep cutting trees then read this in a free time of yours.
Write a rhetorical question to make the audience think about your
topic:
Do you think we should cut trees. Or do you think we should save the nature by not cutting trees.
What is your opinion? Write a statement that clearly states your point of view:
Did you know trees can help blow breeze air if you are hot.
List some facts or statistics that support your opinion:
Trees are important because if there is no trees then there will be oxygen which means everyone's gonna die.
Do you have a solution to the problem?
If you cut trees for paper and those kind of stuff just to get money, try to worry about people and kids because it not fair for others to get no oxygen by cutting trees.
Say your opinion again and warn the audience what will happen if they don’t agree with your opinion.

If you cut lot of trees down then there might not be a existence of tree seeds which can lead to my other reason which means you can die, then there might be no existence of life or human or animals in earth.
